Pablo Ziegler Quartet for New Tango
Sunday, January 28 – 3:00 p.m.
Venice Performing Arts Center ($30-$45)
Latin Grammy-winner Pablo Ziegler, the Buenos Aires-born pianist and composer who helped shape the modern tango, brings the rich, Argentine musical tradition of nuevo tango into a chamber music setting with exquisite arrangements of his own compositions, as well as the music of tango legends like Ángel Villoldo, Gerardo Matos Rodríguez and Ástor Piazzolla. Ziegler was pianist for the late Piazzolla for over a decade, playing on several of his most iconic recordings. A consummate ensemble featuring piano, bandoneon, cello and double bass, the Pablo Ziegler Quartet for New Tango breathes with nuance and refinement, at once subtle and utterly expressive.
